Regional Service Center

The Wilkinsburg Regional Service Center (RSC) is a partnership between Hosanna House, the Allegheny County Office of Community Service and the Department of Public Welfare. The mission of the RSC is to assist individuals to become independent and successful by acquiring a solid foundation along with the education and skills needed to attain their employment and training goals with confidence and hope. Our program works to empower each customer with the tools necessary to gain meaningful employment that will assist them in reaching their career goals.

We provide a variety of services that are meant to assist our customers with finding a meaningful career. It is our intent to assure our customers that they are equipped with the knowledge and skills that will make them successful in the world today. Our program provides the following services.

INTAKE: During intake, the customer is introduced to the DSS and a given a variety of tests and interviews to determine their ability to be successful in the program.

OBJECTIVE ASSESSMENT (OA): During OA customers will get more testing to assist in developing a plan to guide them into their career. The assessment coordinator will identify employment and academic barriers, strengths and weaknesses and employment options.

JOB READINESS: This phase of the program is designed to further prepare the customer to join the workforce and be successful. Some of the components of the curriculum are: Goal Planning, Resume and Cover letter writing, Communication Techniques, Lifestyle Changes, Positive Attitude, Interview Techniques, Dress For Success, Conflict Resolution on the Workplace and much more.

JOB SEARCH: With state of the art technology, we are able to provide excellent job search assistance to our customers. Each customer is given assistance on establishing an e-mail address, posting their resume on-line, enrolled with PA CareerLink, provided with job leads and assisted with searching internet job search sites.

VOCATIONAL/TRAINING ASSISTANCE: Each customer will meet with a team of staff members to establish a plan for vocational or training opportunities provided their situation allows for that opportunity. There are a variety of vocational and training sites that are contracted out by Allegheny County.

GRADUATION: All of our successful customers participate in our monthly graduation where they receive their certificate of completion and possibly an award for extra effort.

RETENTION: Upon securing employment, the customer is placed in our retention program where they have the opportunity to receive monetary incentives for retaining their employment.

TECHNOLOGY TRAINING: Through a partnership with Microsoft, we are able to provide state of the art technology and computer repair and training to our customers. Upon completion of the two week training, each customer is provided with his/her own personal computer.
