Hosanna House's Child Development Center strives to enhance the quality of early childhood programs. Annually serving nearly 100 children, from infancy through 3rd grade, the goal of the center is to produce a generation of children prepared for successful transition to grade school.

We believe that children learn through experience. They are active learners who continuously seek to see, explore and understand everything that goes on around them. In order to satisfy their natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge, children need to have frequent and varied opportunities to explore and manipulate their environment and create their own learning opportunities.

Every experience has the potential to be a learning experience. We provide care in a way that encourages learning through socialization and routine daily activities. Our Center is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and provides:

• NAEYC Accredited Center
• Keystone STARS 4 Star Center
• Qualified teachers
• Breakfast, lunch and snacks
• Educational field trips
• Quarterly child assessments
• Head Start
• Comprehensive after-school program K-3
• Enhanced summer camp for children K-3
• Transportation
• Fun and educational parent nights

In the fall of 2003 we received accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Children (NAEYC). NAEYC administers the largest and most widely recognized accreditation system for all types of early childhood schools and child care centers. It is the nation's largest organization of early childhood educators. This is the highest quality standard in child care and the Child Development Center at Hosanna House is one of only 45 centers achieving this standard in Allegheny County. As an early childhood program accredited by NAEYC our Center has voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process of internal self-study, invited external professional review to verify compliance with the Criteria for High-Quality Early Childhood Programs, and has been found to be in substantial compliance with the Criteria. Accreditation is valid for three years.

The Center also works with five licensed home day-care providers, offering educational enrichment support.

Open enrollment is currently taking place. For more information, call 412-342-1327 or email CDC@hosannahouse.org.
